CSMCC Round 2 Race Report
Qualifying
We decided to take a different approach this time and put it in 2nd on the grid (only 0.003 from pole) after spending most of session on pole! The car was feeling great with Minimax Motorsport providing a great setup!
Race 1
Starting 2nd I was hoping to get a good start and just settle into the race however as always, these things just don’t go to plan. Battling for first I found myself back to P3 after a great move by my teammate John however on the final lap I had contact with another driver which caused them end up on their roof. This resulted in me getting disqualified from the race.
This was definitely not my intention and I’ve apologised to the driver and without a doubt it’s something I’ve learned from.
Race 2
So, starting from the back it was all to play for. After making a mess of the start as I wasn’t paying much attention, I managed to fight my way back through the pack and catch onto the battle for 3rd… Sadly the battle for 3rd was 6 cars long! With not enough laps left we crossed the line and finished 9th. Happy with that considering we started last!
Race 3
This time I actually paid attention to the start and made a decent start missing a few sideways cars into the first corner. After a race-long battle for 4th, I found found myself in 6th when the flagged dropped.
Overall, not the best weekend but a huge learning experience with loads to take away from the weekend and to improve upon! A massive congratulations to my teammate John on an amazing weekend, I’m coming for you!
A massive thank-you to my sponsors as without them I wouldn’t be able to race:
- TB Mackay
- Summer Isle View
- Decor - Rate Ltd
Next up sees the away round at Anglesey! Looking forward to it!
